Sandbridge Crochet Tote Bag

The Sandbridge Tote Bag was born out of necessity.
Sometimes, you really do need to carry everything all at once! This versatile crochet pattern includes three sizes (small, medium, and large), so you can make the perfect tote for any occasion.
With its minimalist stitch pattern and customizable strap, the Sandbridge Tote is as elegant as it is functional. The clever strap design allows you to switch from shoulder to crossbody wear with a simple pull, giving you flexibility on the go.

Yarn & Supplies
*5 Stitch Markers, 1 a different color than to others to represent the beginning of round.
*Tapestry Needle
*Measuring Tape

7 mm Crochet Hook
Hobbii Daily Stitch Recycled Ribbon
Small: Color 16 = 8.8 oz or 142 yds (1 ball)
Medium: Colo 17 = 17.6 oz or 284 yds (2 balls)
Large: Color 18 = 26.4 oz or 426 yds (3 balls)

Gauge: rows 6-9 : 4in x 4in =11 stiches x 13 rows
US Terminology
Skill Level: Beginner
At the end of each round there is a stitch count. That count includes the slip stitch that joins the round together.
The chain 1 does not count as a stitch. At the beginning of each row you will crochet into the same stitch, that stitch is the first stitch of the round.
Stitch Markers are to mark the beginning and end of the Turn. Refer to the notes of each row for stitch marker placement.
The example pictures are of the medium size.
Abbreviations & Stitches
Sl St: slip stitch
CH:Chain
SC: Single Crochet
SM: Stitch Marker
BLO: Back Loop only
SK: Skip a stitch
Cluster: This term refers to any number of stitches crocheted in the same stitch.
Turn: This term refers to the sequence of increase stitches that make the round part of the base. The beginning and end of the turn is represented by (*) and (**).
Pattern Details

Round 1: CH 9,(17,29), SC in the 2nd CH from the hook. SC in each stitch until the last stitch. In the last stitch put 3 SC, working on the opposite side of the CH, SC into the until the last stitch, in the last stitch put 3 SC. slip stitch at the top of the SC to join the round. (20, 36,60)
*note: place a stitch marker in the first and last stitch in the 3 stitch cluster
Round 2: CH 1, (starting CH does not count as a stitch) SC in the same stitch, (place SM) SC in each stitch till the first SM. (*) Place 2 SC in each of the next 3 stitches (**)
SC into each stitch until the next SM 3. (*) Place 2 SC in each stitch of the next 3 stitches.(**) Slip stitch into the SC from the beginning of the round (26,42, 66)

Round 3: CH 1, SC in the same stitch (place SM), SC in each stitch until your marker, (*) Row turn is as follows (2 SC, 1 SC, 2 SC, 1 SC, 2 SC, 1 SC) (**) (Row turn 9 st)

Slip stitch into the SC from the beginning of the round.

At this point the SM are no longer needed, however the beginning of round marker may be useful for the rest of the pattern.
Round 6: ch 1, slip stitch BLO into the same stitch, slip stitch BLO of every stitch. At the end of the round, slip stitch in the first stitch in the round.
Round 7: ch 1, SC in BLO into the same stitch, SC in BLO of each slip stitch in the round, slip stitch in the first stitch to join the round.
Round 8: ch 1, SC into the same stitch, SC into each stitch,slip stitch in the first stitch to join the round.
Round 9: ch 1, SC into the same stitch, SC into each stitch,slip stitch in the first stitch to join the round.
Round 10- (21,29,37): repeat rounds 6-9
The next rounds are set up for the strap holes. For ease the row count to start back at 1.
Round 1: ch 1, slip stitch BLO into the same stitch, slip stitch BLO of every stitch. At the end of the round, slip stitch in the first stitch in the round.
Round 2: ch 1, SC in BLO into the same stitch, SC in BLO of each slip stitch in the round, slip stitch in the first stitch to join the round.
Round 3: SMALL: ch 1, SC in the same stitch, SC 17,CH 2, SK 2, SC 6, CH 2 , SK 2, SC 18, ch 2, SK 2, SC 6, CH 2, slip stitch in the first stitch to join the round.
Round 3: MEDIUM: ch 1, SC in the same stitch, CH 2, SK 2, SC 20, CH 2 SK 2,SC 10, CH 2, SK 2, SC 20, CH 2, SK 2, SC 9, slip st into the beginning stitch
Round 3: LARGE: ch 1. Sc in the same stitch, SC 7, Ch 3, Sk 3, sc 22, ch 3, sk 3, sc 18, ch 3, sk 3, sc 22,ch 3, sk 3, sc 12, slip st into the beginning stitch
Round 4: ch 1, SC into the same stitch, SC into each stitch,slip stitch in the first stitch to join the round.
Round 5: ch 1, slip stitch BLO into the same stitch, slip stitch BLO of every stitch. At the end of the round, slip stitch in the first slip stitch in the round.
That concludes the bag construction part of the pattern.
Bag strap
For this pattern the length of the strap before the ends are joined is 50 inches.
However, the strap length is determined by personal preference.

Option 2 | blo slip stitch strap
CH 140
1) slip stitch into the second Ch from the hook , slip stitch till the end of your chain. CH 1, turn your work.
2)blo slip stitch into each stitch till the end of the row.
Large size only
3) blo slip stitch into each stitch till the end of the row.
Cut the yarn and look the straps through the holes starting from the front to back. Join the two ends of the straps together. Break yarn and weave in ends.
The Sandbridge Tote is complete and is ready to be enjoyed!
